Brené Brown talks about the differences between shame and guilt, how to build resilience to shame, including taking accountability and not getting stuck in blame.

I primarily use Inference Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) for treating OCD because it addresses where it originates from: doubt and imagination. Feel free to explore the ICBT website to learn more:

Maybe You Should Talk To Someone, Lori Gottlieb: Such a lovely perspective on the phenomena of being human, and going to and partaking of therapy. "With startling wisdom and humor, Gottlieb invites us into her world of psychology as both clinician and patient, examining the truths and fictions we tell ourselves and others as we teeter on the tightrope between love and desire, meaning and mortality, guilt and redemption, terror and courage, hope and change."
Nonviolent Communication, Marshall Rosenberg, PhD: "Nonviolent Communication is a practical approach to effective communication that helps you express yourself honestly, listen with empathy, strengthen your relationships, and approach conflict with understanding." I am not saying I'd be out of a job if everyone read this book, but it would help.
Wonder, R.J. Palacio: Yes, this is a children's book, and an excellent lesson in choosing the hard thing, which is usually kindness, and in building the skill of empathy. I highly recommend this for parents and children to read together, but it's not just the kids who gain somethign from it. "Beginning from Auggie’s point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community’s struggle to live up to its values. R. J. Palacio has called her debut novel 'a meditation on kindness'—indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to remember who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out." Be prepared with tissues.
